End of Job Fee

End of Job Fee

There is no cost to join RavW. It is always free for vEmployers to post a project and vWorkers to bid on projects without limitation.

Our site and the costs associated with its operation is supported by a small end of job fee which is deducted from the funds transfer (employers escrow to the workers payment account) at the time of job completion. The information below details how the end of job fee is calculated. Site fees are never deducted up-front and Rent a vWorker does not charge any type of membership, bidding, job posting or other fees.

Currently RavW offers two types of projects, fixed rate and hourly, as well as two types of classifications, open or private (closed). Open projects are open for all site users to bid on, and private or closed jobs are one-on-one projects between an employer and invited freelancer. The latter (private) has a lesser site fee and usually occurs once an employer has an established relationship with the vWorker. Private projects have a lower site fee as presumptuously the employer and freelancer know each other, have a past working history and/or are less likely to need assistance via our dispute resolution - this is a free service to our users but costs RavW to facilitate.

Fixed Rate or Pay For Deliveries Projects are projects that paid in full at the time of delivery. The vEmployer and vWorker negotiate a price and time frame, and when the worker delivers the project he is paid the agreed price. Fixed rate projects can be set for payment in full at the time of delivery or payment for predetermined milestones. Milestones are an optional feature and are made at the discretion of the employer. Any milestone agreements must be negotiated and agreed upon at the time of bid acceptance to be binding. If milestone payments are not negotiated and agreed upon in the bidding and job acceptance phase then pay-for-deliveries in full upon acceptance will be presumed. This does not mean that milestones must be predetermined beforehand, it simply means that if they are not the employer is not bound to pay any milestones and can hold all funds until the project deliveries are made in full.

Hourly Projects are projects that are worked on using an hourly rate. The vEmployer and vWorker agree on an hourly pay and the hours to be worked, as the vWorker completes his work he is paid for the hours worked. Unlike fixed rate projects, hourly projects can fluctuate depending on the hours worked. Rent a vWorker does not currently offer a tracking method for hourly projects and such are conducted on an honor system. We will be implementing a time and tracking system in the future. Please use caution when engaging in an hourly project.

Open Projects are projects that are open for all workers to bid on. This is the most common project posted as it allows employers to receive bids from all workers not just a small group.

Closed - Private Projects are projects that are only available for bidding by workers that were specifically invited to bid. This type of project is usually posted when an employer has worked with a vWorker beforehand and would like to solicit a bid from him only. And since the employer and worker have an established relationship and have worked together in the past (even if on another site) the end of job fee is reduced.

A note to employers: The end of job fee is deducted from the worker's pay when you release the escrow payment. Workers have a bidding calculator that will allow them to compensate for the end of job fee in their initial bid. However, it is important to note that all bids received on your bid request include the end of job fee, and if you have an established working relationship with a worker that you would like to hire for a project it is best to post a private job for him so the fees are lower. Depending on the method of payment withdrawal workers will also incur a small fee when payment is transferred to them. This fee is standardized to compensate RavW for the fees we pay to transfer funds to the workers.

As detailed on our Compare Freelance Sites page, Rent a vWorker charges a simple end of job fee - this is the only fee that our site charges aside from a $5 processing fee for worker withdrawals. Please feel free to compare our fees versus those of Freelancer, oDesk, eLance and Guru.
